Sleeping Beauty

Happy New Year!

The last week of 2014 was fantastic – full of family, old friends, and a lot of delicious food.

On Christmas Day, my family took a windy walk at Walton Woods in Amherst, another Wilderness Weekend in Western New York location. Unfortunately, I left my photocard at home, so more on this walk will be coming another day.

On the 26th, my sister and I enjoyed a sunny stroll around Buffalo’s Delaware Park.DSC_0437

And yesterday- New Year’s Day- G and I, along with G’s mom and a good friend, visiting Sleeping Beauty Mountain near Lake George, NY.DSC_0453We followed the road/trail for a little over three miles each way. DSC_0454

Covered in ice, the path itself was the most beautiful part of this hike…DSC_0456but it was also very slick! I had not thought to bring my microspikes from Buffalo, so I had to be mindful about each step. Fortunately, the rest of our group were prepared, and there was only one slip (mine).

We reached the windy top in late afternoon and were rewarded with beautiful views of Lake George and the southern Adirondacks.

The wind at the top was brisk. We stayed in the open long enough for quick snacks, and few sips of lukewarm tea, and these photos…DSC_0467

Here’s hoping that 2015 brings many more days spend outside with loved ones!
